Our Beliefs
Mount Carmel Bible-Presbyterian Church grew out of a Children’s Sunday School in Redhill in the 1960s. Today, we welcome persons of all ages into our spiritual family.
Who We Are
Mount Carmel Bible-Presbyterian Church is an intergenerational church located in West Coast, Singapore. By God’s grace, we have grown from a small Sunday School into a Christ-centered missions-minded community.
God desires each of us to know, love, and worship Him for who He is. By the Holy Spirit, God reveals Himself to us through the Person of Jesus Christ. In dying on the cross, Jesus accomplished what we could not do – He restored our relationship with God.
Our Mission
Discipling generations together to love God and love people
As one church of five generations, we proclaim Christ to all. We spur one another to know God, trust Him, and obey His commands, the greatest of which is to ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” (Mark 12:29-31)
Whether you are have been with us for a while or are completely new, we welcome you to worship and fellowship with us as we embark on a journey of discipleship, love, and service to we live out our mission of loving God and loving people.
Our Vision
To be a community that abides in Jesus our Saviour and Lord, manifesting His love, wisdom and reign in everyday living.
Through renewing Carmel in intentional discipleship, we aspire to see every Carmelites abide in Christ through the Spirit, word and prayer (John 15). Out of the life of abiding, live a life of fruitfulness and love for God and others. We want to proclaim the good news of Jesus by living out Christ’s love in our homes, our workplaces and in our community.
Our Core Values
For the past 56 years, God has shaped Carmel with these values. We hope to continue living out them out by looking unto Jesus (Hebrews 12:2)
- Authenticity In Christ
As Christ sees us, so we see ourselves: healed, secure and real in our relationships. - Transformed By Christ
As Christ transforms us, we delight in learning and applying God’s Word, which shapes our world-view and the way we live. - Serving As Christ
As Christ serves us, we serve with the heart of Christ to build each other up, not for our own gain but for God’s glory. - Living For Christ
As Christ saves us, we proclaim the Good News of Jesus by living out Christ’s love wherever He places us.
Our Doctrine
The doctrine of this Church shall be in accordance with that system commonly called “The Reformed Faith” as expressed in the Confession of Faith, together with the Larger and Shorter catechisms, which Confession and Catechisms are similar to those set forth by the historic Westminister Assembly.
In abbreviation from the chief tenets of the doctrine of this Church, apart from the Apostles’ Creed, shall be as follows:
- The authority and infallibility of Scripture
We believe in the divine, verbal, and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures in the original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and, as the Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith and life - The Trinity
We believe in one God existing in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit - The divinity and manhood of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man - Total depravity of man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but sinned through the Fall of Adam, thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and become sinners in thought, word and deed - Christ’s redemptive power
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died an expiatory death as representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who repent of their sins and believe in Him are justified before God and the ground of His shed blood - Christ’s return and judgment
We believe in the personal, visible, and pre-millennial return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to judge this world and bring peace to the nations - Salvation by faith, not works
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, and that all who repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour are born again by the Holy Spirit and thereby becoming the children of God - The sacraments for believers
We believe that Christ instituted the Sacrament of Baptism for believers and their children and the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, which sacraments shall be observed by His Church till He comes - The eternal consequences of the Saved and the Lost
We believe in the eternal security, bodily resurrection, and eternal blessedness of the saved and in the bodily resurrection and eternal conscious punishment of the lost; and - Spiritual unity in Christ for all the redeemed
We believe in the real, spiritual unity in Christ of all redeemed by His precious blood and the necessity of maintaining the purity of the Church in doctrine and life according to the Word of God.
