Bible Reading Plan
Come and read the bible together
As we move towards our 60th anniversary in May 2027, let us embark on a journey of reading the whole Bible together.
We hope that our meditations together on same passages of the Bible will be akin to a flock of sheep grazing on the same portion of a green pasture at the same time, under the watch and protection of our loving Shepherd. May our feasting on God’s Word unite us in devotion to God, vision for His kingdom, and love for one another and the community.
This Bible Reading Plan developed by Stephen Witmer will take us through all of the Old Testament and New Testament in two years, interspersed with readings of the Psalms and Proverbs. Included in the plan are catch-up days if you fall behind for any reason and need extra days to get back on track.

Set yourself up for success
- Develop a routine
Allow time for thoughtful reading, quiet reflection and meditative prayer after each session. Take the readings at your own pace and don’t feel pressured to rush through them. Most of all, do not let the readings become a formality or a self-righteous pat-on-the-back with the ticking of the box each day. - Understand yourself
Are you a morning person or a night bird? Do you process information best through reading or listening? Choose to read or listen to God’s Word at a time and in a mode that will help you absorb it most effectively. Then build a routine around that. - Read with others
Reading the Bible with others helps you see things from another perspective and gives you a chance to process what you have read as well. Be creative. Devise your own ways to read with one or more persons and spur one another on, whether on an ad-hoc or regular basis!

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t understand what I’m reading?
Not understanding everything while reading the Bible is completely normal. Try to stay focused on the Big Picture. The goal of reading through the Bible is to get an overview of God’s story, not to grasp every detail. Keep reading even if you don’t fully understand certain passages.
Trust the process. Often, understanding comes with time and repeated reading. Each time you read the Bible, you will notice new insights. Look for what you do understand. Even in difficult passages, focus on the truths you can grasp. Let them strengthen your faith while trusting God with the parts you don’t yet understand. It’s okay to have unanswered questions—the journey itself is part of growing in faith!
Reading with others can help you gain different perspectives. A group discussion often clears up confusion and provides encouragement.
Highlight or jot down questions as you read. You may later return to them for further study, consult study resources, ask a pastor, or discuss them with a Bible Study group.
Where do I start if I join in late?
You may choose to:
- Start reading from the date you joined
- Start from the beginning (at Genesis)
- Start with one or two books earlier in the plan and catch up along the way
Whichever you choose, we hope you will stay on the BRP with the intention of reading through the whole Bible.
What if I fall behind schedule?
There are many good reasons why one may fall behind schedule, so a number of catch-up days have been built into the reading plan. Even if those scheduled catch-up days are not enough and you find yourself still lagging behind, do not be discouraged. Staying the course is the goal. Keep reading and feeding on the Word, and be blessed by the process.
